Anabell C. Cardona

Born and raised in Weslaco, Ms. Cardona attended the University of Pan American. Ms. Cardona was in Healthcare Management for several years before her involvement at Valley Grande Institute.

Ms. Anabell Cardona has been working with the Department of Labor and has been a driving force in advocating for the Apprenticeship programs in the Rio Grande Valley. VGI has approved programs thru the Department of Labor. The goal is to reinforce the workforce pipelines with industries for industries.


Ms. Cardona currently serves on the following boards: Executive Board Member, RGV Lead Board of Directors, as Head of Student Initiatives (2016-present). Executive Board Member, Rio Grande Valley Partnership (2006-present) Executive Board Member, Rio Grande Valley Partnership Foundation (2006-present) Rio Grande Valley Partnership Leadership Committee (2014-present)

Ms. Cardona served in the past on the following boards: Board of Directors for Knapp Medical Hospital Past Executive Chairwoman, Weslaco Chamber of Commerce (2008) Board Member, Weslaco Chamber of Commerce (2006-2010) Past Chairwoman, Rio Grande Valley Partnership (2016) Board Member, Make-A-Wish Foundation (2018) Board Member, Weslaco Crime Stoppers Board Member, American Cancer Society City of Weslaco Strategic Planning (2009)


She has earned several awards and recognition for her work, such as: Chairman Eagle Award, Weslaco EDC (2004) Weslaco Business of the Year, Weslaco Chamber of Commerce ( 2006) Board Director of the Year, Weslaco Chamber of Commerce (2009) Woman of the Year, Weslaco Chamber of commerce (2014) Article in the book “Legacy of the Barrio” by Mayor, Author, and historian, Joe V. Sanchez.
